Lloyd Jones, the founder of LJ Scales & Tills, was working as an Area Electrical Engineer for WMT Avery (subsequently Avery Berkel) when he noted the lack of engineers offering affordable retail till and weighing scale services to small businesses in the London area.

The lure of the flexibility of self-employment was particularly attractive to this young family man struggling to juggle the many imperatives of fatherhood. Thus, L.J. Scales & Tills was born in the garage of Lloyd's then home in South East London before moving to the more central Vauxhall location in 1989.

Since then, L.J. Scales & Tills has continued to expand its loyal customer base - serving restaurants, takeaways, bars, pubs, and shops in London and beyond. Lloyd has fiercely safeguarded the business' independent ownership to ensure it remains "big enough to cope and small enough to care". So, whilst the business has grown over the years, the vision and purpose remain the same today as in that small garage in 1986: to provide efficient, affordable EPOS and weighing system service for small and medium-sized businesses.
